After some manuvering late Friday, Oct. 12, the US House of Representatives may now be voting on a bill as soon as Wednesday, Oct. 17 which would prohibit credit card companies and other types of financial transactions from processing transactions related to Internet gambling. This would be part of a broader bill aimed at curtailing money-laundering activities by terrorist organizations.

Online gaming has nothing to do with international terrorism, and proponents of internet gambling prohibition are just using the September 11th tragedy to try to leverage their puritanical goals.

It is a mistake to require credit card companies to become morality police and sort through every transaction to see which ones might be "legal" Internet wagers. Players will see that for the unacceptable invasion of privacy that it is.

Please take a short moment and write your U.S. Representative(s) (www.house.gov/writerep/) and tell him or her that you do not support this money laundering bill with internet gambling prohibition language included.
